Water disinfection in Australia

Australia is the driest inhabited continent on earth, with the least amount of water in rivers, the lowest run-off and the smallest area of permanent wetlands of all the continents.

In 2012 three UV-system equipped with DUV-36A500 units were commissioned in South Australia, near the Adelaide City, the driest of all Australian cities. The capacity of each UV-system is 24,000 m³/day.

The UV equipment provides 3-log inactivation of rotaviruses and cryptosporidium allowing disinfected effluent to be used for irrigation and aquifer recharge.
