DUV-A Series

LIT UV has developed a range of products in the DUV-A series for potable and wastewater disinfection in industrial/commercial applications. The models in this series are developed using high power, high-efficiency low-pressure amalgam lamp technology by LIT UV. The DUV–A series are designed using a hygienic pressurized UV disinfection system, with all components incorporated into a compact stainless steel reactor with a separate control cabinet. The high efficient LIT UV lamps applied in the DUV-A series produce short-wave germicidal UV-c radiation with a wavelength of 254 nm, which is lethal for bacteria, viruses and other micro-organisms in water.

The design and technical parameters of the LIT DUV-A series for potable water disinfection are designed in compliance with the strict DVGW (Germany), EPA, NSF (USA) and SANPIN (Russia) disinfection performance regulations.

Operating Principle

The UV lamps inside a LIT DUV-A unit have a longitudinal geometry with lateral inlet/outlet flanges. Water enters the reactor and is exposed to the germicidal radiation. The UV lamps are isolated from treated water by special high quality fused quartz sleeves with a high ultraviolet radiation transmission coefficient (>95%). After UV treatment, the bacteria, viruses, pathogenic are inactivated and the water can be used for the designed application.

UV Dose

The DUV-A units ensures proper distribution of high UV doses over a wide range of capacities and water transmission values. The minimum required dose is guaranteed over the lamp’s operational life taking into account lamp ageing and quartz sleeve soiling. The supplied UV dose has been verified by third party validation tests.

UV sensor

As required by the various certification bodies (Russian Hygiene Governmental Authority, ÖNorm and DVGW), all DUV-A units are equipped with calibrated UV-radiation intensity sensors. This sensor provides continuous monitoring of the UV intensity and generates alarm signals if the UV intensity drops below the minimum required alarm level.

 UV lamps

All units are equipped with modern, industrially manufactured amalgam lamps with long operational lives (12.000 hours) and enhanced UV-C output. LIT UV researchers have been able to optimize the UV-С output of an LIT UV lamp over its operational lamp life. LIT UV lamps maintain up to 90% of the initial UV-С output at the end of the lamps operational life, consequently the LIT UV lamps maintain a constant optimum electrical energy conversion to the germicidal UV-С energy.

Control Cabinet

The correct operation of the DUV-A systems is ensured by a control cabinet. The DUV-A series have a combined power distribution and control panel. This panel includes the UV system monitoring and control which continuously monitors the UV intensity inside the UV reactor and the status of each individual UV lamp, including the lamps elapsed operating time. All operating data is displayed on the LCD panel. Depending on the selected option the control panels’ appearance may differ from this basic description.

Cleaning system

All LIT DUV-A units are designed for the application of a special chemical cleaning system for regular cleaning of the disinfection chamber and quartz sleeves. The chemical cleaning system consists of a stainless steel reservoir, a water pump and a set of pipes. The reservoir is used for dissolving the cleaning solution. The water pump circulates the water / cleaning solution mixture through the chamber. A 0.2% aqueous solution of citric or oxalic acid is used for routine cleaning of the disinfection system (once every 2- 3 months). This chemical cleaning method provides effective removal of fouling from quartz sleeves and inner walls of the disinfection chamber and requires minimum labour and material resources.
