| | Granada. Ski resort
Sierra Nevada is the most southerly sky resort in Europe. It's located in the south of Spain and only 32 km away from Granada. The resort accommodates more than 1million 200 thousand guests and accounts for one fifth of the ski resort market in Spain. Nearly all tracks there are equipped with artificial snow making machines to guarantee the required level of snow cover. Technical snow is made up of water and is air sprayed out under high pressure. Snowmaking plants are part of artificial snowmaking system; they consist of a number of engineering structures and installations. In February, 2007, a UV-system manufactured by NPO LIT having capacity of 24 000 m3/day designed to eliminate pathogenic microorganisms in water was added to the water intake unit of the artificial snowmaking system used in the resort. The upgraded systems of artificial snow making will help Sierra Nevada in guaranteeing even better conditions of artificial snow to all skiers from beginners to professionals.
