At the beginning of 2002 LIT Technology launched UV system in the city Kwang-ju, South Korea, which successfully operates now at municipal wastewater treatment plant - Kwangdongri. The LIT UV system with flow capacity of 2 500 m3/day comprises five OMP-6 modules. The modules based on LIT high power low-pressure lamps DB-75 with low operating temperature (40° C), high efficiency (UV output - 35%), and durable operating life-time of 16000 hours. LIT OMP UV systems are ideal for water disinfection at plants with medium flow capacities. To prevent quartz sleeves fouling, OMP UV system is equipped with chemical cleaning system in a channel. The installation of UV system significantly improved the quality of wastewater discharged to Khan river. The result is quite important for Seoul citizens, as Khan river is the most important source of drinking water. Based on the results of UV system performance, Kumho - the treatment plant general contractor, - has started negotiations with LIT Technology about possibility of long-term cooperation for several large projects in Kwang-in.
