 Coming as part of the Development and Reconstruction Programme for Water Supply Networks of St Petersburg, Russia, a LIT UV plant was put into operation in February 2007, with a total capacity of 1 044 000 cubic meters per day. A total of three engine facilities are in operation at the High Lift Pump, with each having a UV system of different design. The UV systems are equipped with 350-watt amalgam lamps featuring dose pacing. UVGI is known to be highly effective in inactivating chlorine-resistant microorganisms, such as viruses and protozoa. The introduction of the UV plant will contribute to the quality of treated water and bring it up to the toughest standards, both local and EU.
