Overview
LIT Technology is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of UV systems and the main developer of ultraviolet water disinfection market in Eastern Europe.
LIT Technology is a subsidiary of the LIT Group, which consists of companies with different fields of activities. LIT Technology is a research based production company which was founded in 1991. Each member of the LIT Group benefits from the combined strength in approaching the various markets, product development and administrative and financial support from the parent LIT Group. LIT Technology’s areas of expertise are the development, manufacture and use of water treatment systems for water disinfection using ultraviolet (UV) radiation; development and production of UV radiation sources; and development and implementation of technical innovations in the field of water distribution and treatment.
During the past 18 years, the company has established a strong position in the market for large-scale UV water disinfection systems, for both municipalities and industry. Also in the market for mid- and small-scale water disinfection systems, LIT UV offers a wide range of UV disinfection equipment. In 2000, LIT Technology initiated the development of air and surface disinfection using Ultraviolet technology. Biological research has been conducted on the effectiveness of UV-c radiation for air treatment. Consequently UV equipment for air and surface disinfection is developed and applied successfully.
Business success
LIT Technology produces multi-purpose UV equipment and special germicidal lamps; it has a scientific research department, a development and design bureau, a technology department and a commercial department.
LIT employs over 300 people who are mainly graduates from leading Russian Universities. Their main field of expertise is in water treatment, electrical and electromagnetic radiation engineering, hydro and aero -dynamics, microbiology and industrial design.
In 2000, LIT Technology was awarded a Government Prize by the Russian Federation as acknowledgement of LIT's contribution to the development and use of UV technology.
LIT Technology offers a full range of solutions for disinfecting drinking water, surface water, industrial process water, waste and recycled water, sea water and water for special applications.
The standard products can cope with flow rates from 0.5 m3 per hour up to several hundred thousand. The company offers a versatile range that provides effective barriers against hazardous micro-organisms using unique pressurized or open channel (gravity flow) systems, all equipped with germicidal high output amalgam and mercury lamps. All the water disinfection equipment is designed with an integrated chemical cleaning and/or mechanical wiper system.
LIT Technology’s product range includes a wide range of equipment for air disinfection to control the air quality in crowded open spaces and in public transport. In addition, LIT Technology also markets UV-equipment for disinfection of different types of surfaces aiming at food processing and pharmaceutical companies.
LIT UV equipment is installed and supported worldwide, with references in Western Europe, Eastern Europe, Latin America, Asia and the South Pacific.
Product Quality
All LIT systems are manufactured according to international standards using high quality materials and components and modern metal processing technologies. All products are approved and certified by the Russian Ministry of Health and are fully compliant with hygiene standards.
The high quality fused quartz, stainless steel and other long-life materials combine high durability with low capital investment and low operating costs. High quality insulation of all electrical parts and devices guarantees electrical safety even in extreme environments. Before being shipped to the customer, each individual UV system is checked by LIT’s quality control department, to assure compliance with the strict manufacturing acceptance protocol.

R & D Centre
The continuous research, which is at the cutting edge of UV technology, and the innovative approach of its Research and Development Centre have provided LIT Technology a place amongst the world's leading manufactures in this field. The company owns ’know-how‘ in the fields of molecular physics, plasma and gas discharge physics, water treatment and water distribution.
LIT Technology owns a number of patents for UV disinfection technologies and applications, UV systems, and the germicidal lamps which are the key elements of any UV system. LIT’s broad experience, gained through over 200 research projects, allows LIT to provide customers (private or public) with sophisticated optimised solutions. The results achieved by the company's Research and Development Centre confirm the high efficiency of LIT products including their ability to effectively eliminate highly resistant pathogens such as Giardia lamblia and Cryptosporidium spp..
The R & D Centre collaborates closely with international organisations. Several state hygiene regulations and guidelines concerning the use of UV technology for water disinfection were developed and introduced with active participation of LIT experts.
LIT's Lighting Production Facility manufactures high quality germicidal lamps based on the latest technology. The newest UV disinfection equipment – a vertical UV module for open channels and the very compact pressurized units - are equipped with these highly efficient germicidal amalgam lamps. The close cooperation between researchers and industrial designers allows LIT to improve existing technologies, innovate and rapidly introduce new product lines to the market to meet specific customer requirements.
LIT Growth and Achievements
LIT Technology has developed a dealer network in foreign markets. LIT has its own marketing and servicing companies outside Russia: in Western Europe - LIT Europe (Netherlands), LIT UV Elektro (Germany), LIT in Eastern Europe - LIT Budapest (Hungary), in Asia - LIT Asia (Beijing). In addition, LIT UV also has representative offices and distributors in many other countries around the globe.
Over the years, more than 6,000 UV disinfection stations with different capacities and applications have been put into successful operation. They include one of Europe’s largest UV stations for the Budapest Municipal Water Distribution System (1st line – 240,000 m3/day, total – 600,000 m3/day) and water treatment plants in Asia; Gumi (South Korea) – 330,000 m3/day and Suzhou (China) – 260,000 m3/day.
A cascade of the world’s largest UV disinfection systems, with a total capacity of 5,500,000 m3/day, has been started for the St. Petersburg drinking water system.
The world’s largest UV station for waste water disinfection at the Luberetskaya Station (Moscow), with a capacity of 1,350,000 m3/day, has been in use since 2007.
The many years and broad application experience, combined with LIT’s scientific capabilities and its own technological ‘know-how‘ results in LIT being able to offer its customers a versatile range of services from technical consultations through to installation, commissioning, operating and servicing for UV systems for small-, mid- and large-size plants for both public and private sector customers.
